Dogs never stop amazing us with their intelligence and adaptability. One Golden Retriever in particular has found a clever solution for when she can’t go out for her walks—she uses the toilet just like a human! Trained by her owner, this smart pup learned how to balance herself on the seat and do her business neatly inside. It might sound unbelievable, but her impressive skill has left people both laughing and applauding. Instead of being upset when walks aren’t possible, she confidently heads to the bathroom, proving that even our four-legged friends can find creative ways to handle life’s little challenges.
With the right training, dogs can learn to do some truly amazing things. This clever Golden Retriever is proof, she knows exactly how to use the toilet whenever her owners aren’t around to take her outside. You could say she’s the ultimate house, trained dog, keeping everything neat and leaving no mess behind. The only part she hasn’t mastered yet? Flushing! Still, her impressive skill has earned her plenty of praise and smiles from everyone who sees it.
While most dogs are notorious for sneaking sips from the toilet bowl, Tokyo, a clever Golden Retriever, uses it exactly the way it was intended. Balancing herself on her front paws, she props up with ease and takes care of business like a pro. Her unusual talent isn’t an accident—her owner’s boyfriend, 29-year-old Alejandro Rodriguez Corrales, explained, ‘I taught her when she was little. She’s my girlfriend’s dog, but I like to teach her different tricks.’ Tokyo’s special skill has since become one of her most impressive party tricks, leaving friends and visitors in disbelief.
Alejandro, a civil engineer from Alajuela, Costa Rica, explained how he patiently trained Tokyo to master her unusual skill. ‘At first, I would prop her up on the toilet and reward her with treats whenever she managed to go,’ he said. What followed was a long and challenging process that required consistency and patience. Over time, Tokyo began to understand what was expected of her, and little by little, she learned to use the toilet completely on her own. Alejandro’s dedication paid off, turning what once seemed impossible into one of Tokyo’s most impressive tricks.

Alejandro admitted that teaching Tokyo to use the toilet was far from easy, but he never let the difficulty discourage him. In the beginning, he focused only on getting her comfortable enough to pee there, avoiding the more complicated step of teaching her to poop. With patience and practice, however, Tokyo mastered the skill. Now, she confidently props herself up on her front paws and uses the toilet with ease, just like a human.
Alejandro proudly added that Tokyo is also very tidy—she never leaves a mess behind in the bathroom. The only thing she hasn’t figured out yet is how to flush, but that hardly diminishes her cleverness. Tokyo has proven herself to be an exceptionally smart and well-trained dog, impressing everyone who hears her story.
